Lamanite Internet

See Mosiah 20:1-5
"Now there was a place in Shemlon (or the internet, maybe myspace.come) where the daughters of the Lamanites did gather themselves together... to make themselves merry...
"The priests of King Noah (or child predators and other unsavory characters) discovered the daughters of the Lamanites... they laid and watched them.
"And ... they came forth from their secret places and took them and carried them into the wilderness."

Words of wisdom from prophets of the past. A striking parallel with the internet today and children unattended in such a dangerous place.

Search for the Truth

Here, http://en.fairmormon.org/index.php/Search_for_the_Truth_DVD, you will find information that the dvd fails to present -- without the information, how can you find the truth. (Thanks to Wewintheylose for leading me there).

Looking to Conference

This evening as I read in Mosiah chapter 2:

9 And these are the words which he spake and caused to be written, saying: My brethren, all ye that have assembled yourselves together, you that can hear my words which I shall speak unto you this day; for I have not commanded you to come up hither to trifle with the words which I shall speak, but that you should hearken unto me, and open your ears that ye may hear, and your hearts that ye may understand, and your minds that the mysteries of God may be unfolded to your view.

10 I have not commanded you to come up hither that ye should fear me, or that ye should think that I of myself am more than a mortal man.

11 But I am like as yourselves, subject to all manner of infirmities in body and mind; yet I have been chosen by this people, and consecrated by my father, and was suffered by the hand of the Lord that I should be a ruler and a king over this people; and have been kept and preserved by his matchless power, to serve you with all the might, mind and strength which the Lord hath granted unto me.

It made me think about conference coming up and how easy it is to get caught up in trifling with the words of the prophets, seers and revelators who will address the saints and the world. But that is not the purpose of the assemblage. We come not to trifle, but to hearken, not to argue but to have the mysteries of Heaven unfolded to our view. The speakers will be mere men and women, nothing more than mortal men -- and yet they have been chosen by the sustaining vote of the saints, set a part by those in authority and called of God, suffered by the hand of the Lord and seemingly preserved by his matchless power. Their words will be filled with power, and I plan to hearken.
